- Terracotta Warriors: When Qin Shi Huang became emperor at the age of 13, he immediately began working on his tomb. Altogether over 7,000 pottery soldiers, horses, chariots, and even weapons have been unearthed from these pits. They are said to guard the dead emperor.
- Great Wall of China: Before the unification of China, separate provinces had walls built to keep invaders out. When Qin Shi Huang became emperor and combined the provinces, he built a wall along the northern border to protect China. The original stretched about 3100 miles long and it was made of rock. Construction was managed by soldiers and convicts, many of which died and were buried within the wall.
- Unification of China: When Emperor Qin Shi Huang rose to power, he united all of China under his rule. Before this, China was ruled by separate provinces who were often at war with each other.
- Regulated Measures: The Qin issued a regulated system of weights and measures that increased trade throughout China. The size of roads and axle lengths were regulated, increasing ease of travel.
